HOLY FAMILY CATHOLIC HOSPITAL, BEREKUM LAUNCHES 2025 WORLD MENTAL HEALTH DAY CELEBRATION

The Holy Family Catholic Hospital, Berekum, through its Psychosocial Support Unit, officially launched the 2025 World Mental Health Day celebration on Monday, October 6, 2025, under the global theme:
“Access to Services – Mental Health in Catastrophes and Emergencies.”

The event began with a colourful gathering of staff, religious sisters, and members of the hospital community who united to advocate for improved mental health awareness and support. Participants held placards carrying powerful messages such as “No one left behind in mental healthcare,” “Invest in mental health today for a better tomorrow,” and “Speak up—Break the silence.”

The launch marks the beginning of a weeklong series of activities including health education sessions, radio discussions, psychotherapy clinics, and community outreach programs. These initiatives aim to reduce stigma, promote early intervention, and ensure mental health services are accessible to all, especially in times of crisis.

In her opening remarks, the Hospital Administrator highlighted the importance of mental well-being as an integral part of holistic healthcare, encouraging staff and the public to actively participate in the scheduled programs. The Psychosocial Support Team also reiterated the hospital’s commitment to creating hope through action by offering compassionate and professional support to individuals and families affected by mental health challenges.

The week’s activities will climax on October 10, 2025, with a presentation on the theme at the hospital’s chapel and community durbar at Kato, featuring mental health screenings and educational sessions.

As we commemorate World Mental Health Day 2025, Holy Family Catholic Hospital, Berekum calls on everyone to join the movement toward a more understanding and supportive society—because mental health matters for all.
